My Baby Sister

She was a pre-mature baby. Doctors told my parents that next 72 hours are complicated for her survival. This news made them more aggravated. My parents did not lose heart, despite of being ill my mother took care of her. After every two hours she went to the hospital’s nursery room to feed that tiny doll. She was unable to sleep for those 72 hours. That teeny-weeny baby was her everything, she was not in a position to lose her after all she took her in her womb for 7 months. Do you know what is the most traumatic and agonizing phase of parents’ life; Losing their child. But finally, everyone’s prayers and my parents’ tireless and sleepless nights proved fruitful for both of them. Their baby and my little sister survived. Doctors and my maternal grandfather called her a ‘Miraculous Child’.

She is younger than me and my brother but more sensible than both of us. She is a Pharmacist. Being my younger sister she is a piece of my heart. Since the day she is born every moment she reminds me that I am not alone. Every time I see her I feel like we are a couple of nuts from the same tree. There were times when we fought like beasties over small things but to be honest she was always the suppressed one and I was the dominant one. Whenever mama or baba brought new dresses she used to give that to me and insisted to wear that first. One day I asked her why does she do this? She simply replied, “Mjhe tmhy dekh k andaza ho jata haina sheeshay mein dekh k to andaza nai hota k dress mjh py kesa lgay ga iss liay” We had great time together. Still whenever we both meet up, I feel blessed, happy and free of tensions. I still remember those days when she had to go to the hostel and I kept on crying for hours.

After I got married, there were so many hard times I had to face but my sister was always there for me. She always proved to be my support system. The greatest gift my parents have ever given to me is her. Girls always believe in the existence of fairies and their stories, I am one of them because I have one of my own and I call her my baby sister. Whenever my own wings forget to fly, my sister is that fairy who lifts me up and takes me to the sky. She uses to call me her optical isomer.

Sisters are special from young ones to old,

God gave me a sister more precious than Gold.

She is not just my sister; she is my secret- keep, one of my lifelines, my little fairy, my partner in crime, my gossip partner, my designer, my legal advisor and above all my daughters best friend.

Oh My dear baby sister! I just wanted you to say that you are the one who holds me in my bad times, only you are the one who dances and laughs with me in my happiness. I cannot even recall a single day when you were absent in my life. I really love you sister. I cannot promise to fix all your problems but I can promise you won’t have to face them alone. May ALLAH bless my sister and every sister out there with happiness, prosperity and good health Ameen.
